NICOLAS MICHAUX
NICOLAS MICHAUX
Nicolas Michaux is a Belgian singer, songwriter, and producer known for his unique blend of English and French songs that straddle diverse musical traditions. Splitting his time between Brussels, where he collaborates with the Capitane Cooperative, and the Danish island of Samsø, where he resides with his two daughters, Michaux’s music is a product of both his surroundings and a deeply personal, independent spirit. His recordings have a raw, documentary-like quality, reflecting a life devoted to listening and creating. As he puts it, "Music is something that happens, not something you do."
Michaux's approach to production is like a painter working with sound, crafting vivid sonic landscapes through a thoughtful use of instruments and textures. His debut album, *À La Vie à La Mort* (2016), released on the Parisian label Tôt ou Tard, continues to garner international recognition. His 2020 album *Amour Colère*, released on Capitane Records, solidified his success, earning support from major outlets like France Inter, La Première, Radio Nova, BBC6 Music, and Télérama.
In 2021, Michaux followed up with the compilation *Les Chutes* and the single "Amusement Park," which has accumulated over 3.8 million streams. His latest single, "Chaleur Humaine," was released on May 24, 2023, accompanied by a video he directed in Ibiza. After receiving heavy airplay on La Première and France Inter throughout the summer, the track was embraced by francophone media around the globe.
Beyond his solo work, Michaux is also an accomplished producer, having collaborated with artists such as Irma Thomas, Turner Cody, Regina Spektor, and Cyril Neville. His next album, *Vitalisme*, is set for release on October 18. To celebrate, he will perform with his band, the Soldiers of Love, on October 16 at Botanique in Brussels and on October 18 at Zèbre de Belleville in Paris.
